Nan Baker
Nan Baker has been stitching all of her life and created her company, PURRFECT SPOTS in 1996 to combine her love for needlework and animals. She started quilting in 2002 as many of her designs worked well as quilts. Quilting has become her favorite form of needlework. She is self taught but takes classes on different techniques whenever she has the opportunity. She has discovered that while machine quilting is great, hand quilting is her favorite.
Nan's designs have appeared in various needlework catalogs, the Quilting Professional, QuiltsandCreativity.com and The Quilt Pattern Magazine. In the course of her submissions to The Quilt Pattern Magazine. Nan was offered a position as the Marketing Director. As this is what she majored in, it was natural for her to accept. Nan started the position in March 2011.
When not quilting, Nan is promoting animal disaster preparedness. As a member of the Disaster Animal Response Team for The Humane Society of the United States, she has worked fires, floods, hurricanes and tornadoes. As a result of her disaster work, she created The CASEY Plan (Caring for Animals Safely in Emergencies during the Year) which is a nationwide program. She has received several awards because of her efforts. A portion of her sales is donated to animal disaster relief education.
